This a symptom I have noticed for the past couple of years, I am shifting properly with a firm follow through. I currently have the lower unit apart and do not see anything wrong with clutch dog or the gears, although the drive shft tapered roller bearing looks like it is getting time for relacement. does any one have any input on this? This motor Iv'e owned since new, It has over 1300 hrs on it. Thank's in advance, Dave

If the clicking is in the remote, The issue is in the remote. It may just eed to be cleaned up and greased, The detent ball does make a clicking noise.
Does it go in to gear and stay there?

Thanks to everyone that replied, dissassembeled the gear case and the only thing i found wrong was the drive shaft bearing, had the dealer change the bearing and did the shimming. How much up and down play should the installed drive shaft have? I can move it up and down about .003, Is this O.K.? P.S. I started this post last December finally got around to working on it thanks in advance.
