Class C parts from OMC's perspective were slowest moving and most expensive items. Parts that would sit in inventory for many years before anybody local needed them, costing the local dealer money. OMC would rather they be at main warehouse instead of reducing the financial viability of a local dealer.

OK, that is interesting. I know at a local dealer here that all parts must be Class C as because of a down economy they do no carry as many parts of any kind like in the past, due to not wanting to purchase inventory I guess. Could be partly the internet too!

Most companies have went to the little or no inventory mode of operation and rely on quick delivery from a warehouse. However the warehouses are doing the no inventory thing too... Great for the bottom line for the businesses practicing it, but not so good for the customer who now faces delay and usually 'rush' shipping charges.
