I bought a spare lower on ebay years ago .I was told at that time that all v6 lowers were interchangeable so I bought the first one that was reasonable with the correct shaft length.I was considering changing it out in the off season and was warned to make sure I have the correct year range.Ugghh ,i may have bought and older one.Any way to easily tell the difference from an older one to the one I need besides putting them side by side???? Transom heights determine whether the motor needs to be long / extra long / double extra long.------And that has nothing to do with the actual length of the part known as the driveshaft.------Different motor configuration and dimensions of block / crankshaft determine the ACTUAL dimension of the driveshaft.---Shift rods differ for the same reasons.
