1986 60 HP VRO replaced Johnson fuel pump question

VRO fuel pump was replaced years ago with non VRO pump. New Replacement pump has only an inlet and outlet for fuel from pump but there are
3 lines from engine- one for fuel in to pump and one from pump to carbs. What is other line from engine for and can it be bypassed/blocked to use two input/output pump?

The 3rd line is the pulse line to operate the pump I think you have the wrong pump. The factory one for your motor is a 3 port pump.
