Johnson Propeller Converging Ring Question

[FONT=&quot]I picked a 13.25 diameter 17 pitch aluminum prop, used. No damage, although its missing the converging ring. A parts website indicates one can order this ring although it comes in two different styles I guess. Lexan and Aluminum. Does it make a difference? My engine is a 1979 70 horse Johnson.[/FONT]

Try running it without the ring. If on the very slight chance it ventilates get the ring. Lexan

I have been using it without the ring. There were a couple times where started revving rather high, when given lots of throttle.
