1987 Evinrude 70 HP carb/idle set up.

I've rebuilt all three carbs. Having trouble getting a good idle. Engine runs great, smooth hole shot and great at WOT however have trouble getting a good idle. I'd like to double check linkage and stops.Can someone give me instructions on setting up linkage, idle stop and WOT stop etc. Thanks

Get a manual and they are not known to be good idling motors, if it idles and you have good holeshot sounds like it is running good. My 1986 70 hp will make my trolling motor head do figure 8s when it's running.

1st..adjust only in the water with backpressure not muffs. 2nd..start on lower carb and work your way up 3rd..set the gap on the roller at 1/8 inch as older motors like a little more timing before fuel...
