I have a Johnson 60 hp 4 stroke fuel injection that is leaking fuel. It is a model J60PL4SR. I think that is a 2003 model. It will start and might run fine for a few minutes. Then it will put out a fuel slick and die. It acts like it is flooding like a carbureted engine would do. Where should I start looking for the cause?

This will be tricky, the high pressure pump has a drain connected to the pressure regulator in side. One possibolity.

Another is any of the fuelines on the pressure side.

I suggest you rig up a tank so you can run it with the covers removed and see the leak happen.

Are you getting any lights or horns?

It's in the water on a pontoon so easy to run. I checked for visible leaks but am not seeing any. Is it possible the injectors are allowing too much fuel to be injected and the excess is causing the slick I'm seeing on the water?
