1977 Johnson 70hp

Hi all, I've just acquired a 1977 Johnson 70hp and wanted to add a tell-tale/pee hole. I've seen wombats post and was wondering if I could drill the 11/32 hole into the power head to gain access to the water jacket without removing the manifold. Thanks.

What manifolds that?
Can you post a picture of where you intend to drill?
The head at the rear is useless as the water goes through a chamber before there that youy need the air purged from

Oh i get it, i think you a meaning the head when you talk about manifold.
If so, sure, just make sure you line it up where he has and after you have drilled for a bit keep the hole clean of shavings by blowing on it and also put some grease on the tip to catch the filings. If a bit drops in its really not too much of a concern.

Great idea to do this job as an airbubble at the top of the motor leads to bad overheating in these and damage
