I picked up a 15 HP Johnson 1993 4 stroke and a 1999 9.9 Evinrude 4 stroke. Both need power packs which cost about 300.00 a piece. They are mighty big and heavy made by Suzuki for OMC. It seems there are quite a few around for sale not running . What is your thought on these motors?

Are you sure that the 93 model is a 4 stroke ?----And are you 100% sure those years were made by Suzuki ?

.I am not 100% sure. The 15 HP Johnson is a 2004 my error. The 9.9 Evinrude is a 1999 . I am used to older 2 strokes these are foreign to me. Never saw a CDI with sensors on it before as the 9.9 Evinrude has. The Johnson has a rectangular CDI which I am unfamiliar with as well.

The Suzuki built motors were good, but some parts may be hard to find, the actual OMC built 4 strokes weren't very good and parts are even harder to find.

The 9.9 Model # E10EL4EEB
The 15 HP is # J15R4S
Both motors have no spark.
The 9.9 has a very different power pack 0586136 0586505 0586650 superseded part #s
Both power packs are in the 250 to 300 dollar range each with no used ones available.

Both are big and heavy.
Curious as to which one is American built and which is Suzuki
Thanks

Also please see my post regarding powerhead compatability for my 8HP

??-------Look up the parts pictures for the 15 hp----Then look up the parts pictures for same year Suzuki and compare.--Nothing to it.

They are worth 5-600 used, running, in fresh water, in excellent shape in northern Michigan. Make absolutely sure you need packs for them. I have found bad stop switches more often with the 2004 model when both cylinders do not have spark. Those are expensive parts.to not be certain.

Ha. Downstate, in one of those gentrified places. Good walleye lake.
