evinrude 88 spl cable problem or is it something else ???

hello guys am back with a problem..so this motor is running great and all haven't give me any problems since I did a complete tune up last year
....but now there is s binding kind of noise when I put it in gear. it only does it when engaging in to gear if I move the shifter slow if I push the lever fast it does it but very soft,, I don't want to think is something big but what do I know ,,, if any of you have had this problem please advise me what can I do

You are not supposed to shift it slow.----The lever must be moved quickly to avoid damage to the gears and clutch dog.
