1979 Johnson 70 replaced solenoid now wont fire

Here's what happened. Bought a 1979 Johnson 70 and it ran great for 2 days but hard to start.
On the third day I went to run it on the hose and it would not turn over. Tested starter it was good so replaced the solenoid and while I was at it spark plugs. Now it turns over like a champ but acts like its getting no fire Help

something happened to affect two elements starter and...ignition

anything else happened .... dirt in the fuel supply clogged the carb ? crossed battery cables ? blown fuses anywhere (if any) , bad start switch (activates the selenoid but not the ignition elements ?)

​try some fuel in a spark plug

Check whether you are getting spark.
Also clean up all engine grounds

^^Use a spark tester -- open air adjustable (auto parts store).
