I have a 35 Johnson longshaft that is leaking gearlube thru the prop. Is there a seal that can be replaced, and is it hard to do? TIA

Check the gear lube and see if there's water in it, most of the time it's not gear lube, it's unburnt fuel and oil draining out of the exhaust housing.

If seals have 40 years of wear and tear you would be wise to install a complete seal kit.----Do not overlook the shift rod seal.

makes sense. Also could pressure test it and try to figure out where what's leaking and what isn't (might be prop seal damage from fishing line).

I had the same thing happening to my 1978 35hp. I replaced the prop shaft seals and all is good. With basic mechanical skills, factory shop manual, and U-Tube it's not hard. I didn't have a small flywheel puller for the bearing cage, but I made one with some all-thread rod and a chunk of flat bar stock. I didn't have the stuff to pressure test it but no water in the oil or leaks in two seasons. I got lucky. Good luck.
