1974 70 Hp Pee Stream

Im finally going to add a tell tale. Read a lot of posts, Service Bulletin, etc. Have the tap, fittings and tubing. The SB says to use OMC Gel Seal to attach the fitting to the water jacket.

I dont have the Gel Seal, Posts say that Locktite 515 is an alternate but NAPA doesnt carry but could order for $24. Can I use someting more common like Permatex 2 Non Hardening? Its water without much pressure nor heat.

Any thoughts?

Of course you can use that. It's not like it a space ship or something.

Where are you putting the fitting. If you are putting it into the exhaust housing I don't think the measurements work ,if you are using the measurements from service bulletin #2276.

Going in at the top of the block just to the rear of the lift hook. I believe there is a Sticky that has a photo.

Well the Permatex did not work even though I let it set 24 hours. Leaked at both joints at the head. Replaced with Teflon tape and worked fine.
