2003 Johnson 140 hp tilt/trim problem

When I lift the motor up, the fluid sounds like it is bypassing a relief valve. Can someone tell me what the "manual set valve" does? Thanks Bruce

Yes the tilt and trim work. I topped off the oil tank with motor up. Can you tell me what the "manual set valve " does? Is it for bleeding the system?

It's for raising and lowering the motor manually when you don't do it electricly.

After you top it off run it up and down about 10 times and recheck the oil level. The noise may go away.
