engine starts right up and idels fine. when you put the boat in gear and slowly give gas engine stalls and dies every time in forward and reverse.
I have learned that if I bump the choke a little,the boat will go fine with out any problems.
Once the boat is going it runs fine at all speeds

Welcome to iboats

First thing you do is buy a good service manual, the manufacturers one is the best. It will explain things like checking and setting timing, syncing the carbs to ignition advance, and all sorts of other neat things.
As mentioned earlier, your engine sounds like it is lean. Could be low floats, dirt/gum/varnish in passages/idle-tube/jets. Your engine has fixed high and low speed jets, non adjustable

Sounds like something floating around in the float bowl getting in the high speed jet.
