A shop mishap has left me in need of a new carburetor. What year carbs would work with this motor?

You can probably do some research on your own to determine this. All of Johnson/Evinrude's exploded parts lists are available on the web: epc.brp.com. You can snoop through many years of 70 hp engines to determine carb commonality. My guess is that there are many years around 1991 when the carbs are nearly identical. What I would look for: 1. Your carbs have idle screws in them. Some of the older ones have fixed idle jets. Make sure you get one that has the similar idle screws. 2. Make sure the jets in the carb are the same size as in yours: the orfice in the top of the carb venturi is .032 on your 70. The main jet in the carb bowl is .050 (50D) on the 70hp. 60 carbs are different, but look the same. Stay away from them. It may be rare to find just one carb for sale. You may need to buy a set of 3 used carbs. The set is probably not that expensive.
