Excessive carbon? oil? in exhaust housing? Evinced E120TLERC

Dropped the lower unit to replace a water pump and noticed a lot of carbon or oil deposits in the exhaust housing. Do I need to do anything about this? Should I just scrape some of it out? I am afraid that cleaning might cause something to get clogged elsewhere. What about the upper portions of the exhaust passages?

Just clean it out it's fine, if 100% marine synthetic two stroke oil is within budget use it.

Thanks for the reassurance I cleaned it out a bit. Since I have owned the boat I always run Evinrude XD-50 2-stroke oil.
