shift linkage adjustment

might be 3/4 inch or so adjustment left at the cable box end of the shift cable. On cable lengths -- think throttle cables are usually a little longer than shift cables, as the throttle is typically on the left side in older motors. So might find your throttle cable is indeed a little longer. If opening the box to switch them, could check to see if the cable end adjustment would do it for you (shift cable). Whatever is easiest....

and.....check/adjust shift rod height when you change out the impeller.

Where the control cable attaches in the remote control there are usually two mounting points. One of those gives you more throw in the cable.

Thanks to every one I solved the problem. I was able to get a small amount of adjustment at the binnacle and then a little more at the cable end at the shift lever. With both points adjusted out as far as possible it now shifts to F and R.
