Was wondering after 1985 what was the best running
Performance wise
25/35 Johnson evinrude
And has anyone shoehorned a 40 hp power head down in a 25/35 basket
Made spuds to connect the crank and lower unit seeing how their different

Good luck with a project like that.-----Much more work than you might think !-------I do not think that the gears in the 35 hp bottom end would stand up to the power of the bigger motor.-----They are marginal for the 35 hp as it is !!

I'm a true machinist
91/2 years u s navy
Just want a GOOD running 25
Some lakes around the area only allow a 25
Bored and wanting a project for winter
Shoehorning a 40 in a 25 might be a bit much
I'm guessing nothing is going to be anywhere
Close to be where it needs to be
And I agree the gears are straining on a 35 as it is

Post 1985, the 35 became the 30 as the rerated the horsepowers at that point from powerhead to propshaft rated. The 35 still shows up in the parts listings, but not in the catalog... That said, if you want a little more beef, you can upgrade your 25 to 30 with some bolt-on stuff. Several threads on iboats on that subject.

Thanx guys
I'll start browsing around in the forums to see what I can find
So I'm guessing start right off the bat with a 1985 and newer 30 /35
Feel free to comment on this
While I'm looking through iboats forums
This site looks like it has a lot of bright minds who love a challenge from what I've seen so far Thanx nitewolf
