1979 Evinrude 85HP Bearing Carrier

Let me first introduce myself
I am a Motor Mechanic by trade, and im ready to learn something new.
I have bought myself a old 1979 Evinrude 85HP (85999R)

So far i have lost alot of hair and alot of sleep, but im having a ball of a time learning something new
With alot of mistakes being made too ha ha (but of course learning from them)

So what is my question

I have replaced the water pump assy, put the leg back on and for some reason the gear box oil started to leak out of the prop housing (WTF)

So, whats 1 more repair i said

I started to try and remove the bearing carrier with 2 5/16 threaded rods and a harmonic balancer puller (yer right didnt even move)

So i abort this repair, and decide to just replace the 2 prop seals (wow that wasnt so hard) or so i thought.

I went to put the 4 bolts back into the bearing carrier (with new orings) easy right

NO

I have no idea where the theaded section is for the 4 bolts to line up with???

so after my 2 day story

Can someone pleaseeee tell me how to line up these 4 bolts (as i cant even find the thread)

The plate that is in there has rotated.------When installing that carrier you use a long threaded rod to line it up.---Try and use a long pointy tool to move it.

Thanks for your reply, i have shaken the leg, dug around, i can not see or hear any plate, is it possiable it moved when i installed the water pump? moved the drive shaft around ?

?????---The plate is there and it has rotated somehow.
