I have to remove the flywheel covers of my Evinrude 175 Ocean Pro 1994 (carburated) to repair the bendix drive. (It is no doubt that I have to take it out).

I can`t find anything about removing these covers in the manual, but have understood that it is a bit tricky. Does anyone have any advice? Please see attached pictures.

The OEM Service manual directs that that first you remove all spark plug leads from the spark plugs, then remove the timing sensor cover (3 bolts) and then lock the flywheel in place to allow you to remove the "timing Wheel Screw". Then remove the17 screws retaining the flywheel cover.

See page 3-7 in the manual. If you do not have the OEM Service Manual, I would suggest you get one.
