Just bought a 3hp Bucaneer model 3D15B. Had to do a real cleanup on the unit. There is a spring on a brass unit on top of the carb. I CANNOT find where the one end, not attached to the brass knob, hooks up. I found a place, on the left side(looking at engine) that has a small piece broken off. Could this be the place. Also, would like to find a manual for it. Any suggestions. Tks

What brass knob? You mean spring #5 or spring #12? I collect those motors in various dress.

It is spring #12. I know where it goes on the carb throttle, but cannot find where the other end hooks up. It was disconnected when I got the motor.

I found it, but unfortunately it has broken off. I drilled another hole a little lower and hooked it up. This "project" is getting a little frustrated. The engine has been sitting in the rafters, of a garage for 30+ years. Gas filter is completely plugged with remains of old gas and is somewhat destroyed. Getting a replacement around here (Ontario) seems to be impossible. If I can't get one, gonna have to change gas line to rubber and put in an inline. Good thing I am a senior, with LOTS of patience. Thanks for you help and I am sure I will be back to pick your brains on other items concerning this "bargain".

I trash those old sintered filter elements and solder in a roll of brass filter screen. Better than it ever was.
