Serial# and Model#

The serial and model numbers don't seem to exist for my 40hp evinrude. model- 10804D serail-J01472
Can any one help?

Recheck your numbers. 40804B is a 1978 40hp Commercial model. 10804 if it existed, and it seems it doesn't, would be a 9.9hp. On the other hand, it might be a 1968 special edition of some kind. By any chance, does it have wings on the lower unit, or a jet drive?

No wings nor a jet drive. The numbers came from the plate on the mid section. It could be a commercial model.

40304D is the number of a 1973 40hp recreational model
