Looking at a boat with a 1994 Johnson 150 hp and looking for some help. Anything I should know or worry about haven't been around big outboards for a while. Just looking for help. I don't know much about the engine just saw it posted online. Seller claims it only has 182 hours. Don't think it's a sea drive or salt water edition. Thanks for any help.

This is a 60-degree V6 engine. Loop charged. Carb engine. An improvement over the 90 degree crossflow which it replaced. Lots of torque and slightly more fuel efficient. Good hp in a small package. They made a base 150 and the GL model, which made over 150 hp, so check the model number or the cowling. The Faststrike was the higher hp version. Was not the Ficht type, so will have good reliablility. I would not be as interested in a saltwater model (as it was probably used in saltwater) just for that reason. Maybe you can use that as a negotiating tactic.
