Hi there. I'm trying to diagnose a no start/poor start problem with my 1981 Honda BF75.
When I pump the bulb I get fuel leaking out of the port circled in red.
Is that normal?
I did get it running for about 10 seconds.
I did tear down the carb to clean it. But may not have done it properly.
thanks

That is the vent and if you have fuel coming out there you have even more flooding the cylinder. The carb needs to come apart and be cleaned again and the needle valve checked and adjusted. If the needle has any grooves where it seats then it needs to be replaced.

Thank you.
I'll take the carb off and check it out.

It starts first pull when cold but will only run at higher revs in neutral for about 10 seconds and once it stalls I can't get it to start until it's cold again.

Cleaned carb and fuel pump. They both had sticky residue in them.
Starts and idles well now, at least in a drum.

I had cleaned the carb when I bought it this spring and it it had sticky residue in it then.
I think I'll replace the fuel lines and clean out the gas tank with something. Not sure what yet.

Thanks for the help. Hopefully that's the fix.
