I have a 1985 Honda 7.5hp that is causing me a lot of grief so I'd really appreciate some help.
Here's the deal, I did a complete teardown and reassembly of the gear case replacing every bearing and seal but now something seems to be out of adjustment. With everything back together I can feel the 3 distinct positions when moving the shift rod up and down, but in the middle (neutral) position, the forward gear is still engaged by just a little bit. If I push the shift rod down slightly toward the reverse position I can find neutral but the shift rod is not in it's natural neutral resting position at this point.
Can someone tell me what adjustment is required to resolve the problem?
