Strange question about this system.

I am helping a friend with this motor and I noticed the linkage from the choke to the solenoid down to the carb is missing.

Is there any chance the choke on the carb would spring closed as a default position? this would be backwards from every carb I have ever seen.

Re: Nissan 9.8 4 stroke fast idle choke system

The choke plate on an electric-choke NS9.8A3 is unsprung, and floats free if it is not linked to the solenoid. On a manual-choke model carb, the plate registers in detents.

They are two different carburetors.

If you have electric choke, and are missing the link wire, order 3V1760760M LINK ROD $2.29, from any dealer, including me. There are also other bits, including the solenoid, plunger, hook, etc., that are needed if missing.

I have a Nissan 9.9 4 stroke, is the idle set up the same way as a 9.8? I read on another forum that it is not and does the motor has a "fixed idel", so how do I low the idle on this model?

You should really start a new thread.
The idle stop is as usual on the MFS9.8.
Attach your shop tach and shoot for 950.
Pilot screw is plugged per EPA regulations, so idle mixture is not adjustable.
