I was wondering if anyone has any experience in replacing the lower motor cover on the Nissan 5hp or equivilent motors. My motor and stand was knocked over and it impacted the side with the upper motor cover lock. It bent the lower motor cover inwards enough to cause the sides of the cover to bow outward. It is damaged enough to prevent the upper motor cover from being locked into place. Does anyone know where I could get a replacement and how hard is it to replace?

Year is irrelevant for servicing. Your dealer will need the correct model/serial. Guessing you have an NSF5A2, with grey paint (not an old M5B 2-stroke). If so, your motor uses 3H6S671002, MOTOR COVER LOWER, MFS5A2/6A2, $124.65. It's difficult to replace with the power head installed. Faster/easier to pull the power head, but you will then need a new 3H6610120M, GASKET, DRIVE SHAFT HOUSING, $3.80, to reinstall the power head after the lower cowl has been replaced. Allow up to an hour for the labor.
