I recently replaced my prop and noticed that when in fwd gear I can spin the prop clockwise easily and it makes a clicking sound when i try to turn it counter clockwise it takes a lot of effort . When in neutral it spins both ways with no sound . when in reverse it spins both ways but takes a lot of effort no clicking

is this normal?
thank you

Yup. Normal for a dog clutch.

Re: Outboard clicks when prop is spun in fwd gear

Thank You JD
Do you know where I can get an OEM manual for my outboard?
Im having trouble getting on plane unless someone gets on the bow..
current prop is
10-2/3 x 11-1/3 RH Michigan Wheel Michigan Match Propeller

says pitch is 11 1/3
the boat is 14ft has two batteries , 12 gallon gas tank and usually two men fish on it does the pitch seem appropriate?
sorry I didnt know if i should start another thread

The 1- and 2-cylinder 2-strokes use the Part# 003-21035-1 Factory service manual, $45.00 from any Tohatsu/Nissan dealer, including me. Get a tach on the motor to see what your WOT RMP shows. No shortcuts to selecting a prop, which will still require a little trial and error testing. Also confirm jack height and trim angle to get the best hole shot without over-revving.

A new thread, in the Prop Forum, would be a good idea, oxbeast.
