I have a honda 4stroke 25hp mod# bf25lhsa ser#3200313. In the owners manual it says it requires a special kit to screw into it to flush the motor. The guy I bought it from used muffs when he ran it for me. It ran without overheating. Do I need to get the special flushing kit or can I use the muffs safely? I don't want to damage anything.

Can use both, will preffer muffs as constant screwing/unscrewing to remove engine nut/water adapter on the long run will end damaging engine threads if the system happens to use it. Just turn engine on to flush at least 3 minutes so thermostat opens up and flushes main head water passages propely.

Check owners manual if you need to flush engine on or off, some boaters states that with correct faucett water pressure it's enough for thermostat to mechanically open up, but if pressure is not that opt, use muffs with engine on to open up thermo with temperature.

Happy Boating
