I previously requested help in resolving a problem w/ my 92 Nissan O/B motor.

Previously Posted: Took boat out. after passing no wake makers motor died, as though it ran out of gas. Was hard starting but was able to get back to dock at low speed. A few days later I took boat out again after inspecting motor and changed plugs and it did the exact same thing as it did before. Took boat to Nissan authorized dealer and they told me I had good compression BUT there was a problem( noise ) w/motor and needed to be COMPLETELY disassembled to find problem. Estimate was 4 hrs @$100/hr. There recommendation I start looking for new power head. That recommendation costs 150. Contacted several other O/B specialists and told them of problem and all had same recommendation(s).

Update: Contacted Iboats merchant who sold power heads and they told me that they did not stock the power head that I needed HOWEVER after talking w/ a guy, not sure who, and telling of my problems he said " Sounds like you could have a problem w/ oil pump or lower unit oil and suggested I premix the oil and circumvent the oil pump also I should ck oil level in lower unit. With nothing to loose I premixed 50:1 and took boat out for it's final trip ( I thought ) SOB!!!!! if that boat ran like NOTHING was wrong with it. I ran 20 gal of fuel through the motor at high speed, low speed, mid range speed. No noise no stall no problems!!!! Apparently the oil pump failed and the crank case was over heating and killing the motor because of lack of lubrication and therefore over heating.

I hope this may be of some help to someone.
