I have the opportunity to pick up a 2003 Honda BF 9.9D for a very reasonable price. It is claimed to be "a competitive analysis engine which means one of hondas competitor took this engine apart and weighed everything." The entire engine (including powerhead) is disassembled and everything is bagged/boxed.
So my question is if this would be a project that the novice mechanic can handle. I've already done practically the same, but on Late 50's OMC's. I would pick up a shop manual, but how hard is it to figure out all the electronics and linkages etc?
Also feel free to throw in what you think would be a reasonable price for this project.
