Have a well maintained late model Honda 7.5 HP outboard. (blue/white)
Will idle and spool up perfectly for the first five minutes of operation. After 5 minutes of warm up time, motor will idle and troll perfectly all day but will not throttle up fully (stuttering hesitation). Carb has been removed cleaned, plugs are fine, fuel is new, breather on tank & check valve cleaned and work properly. Problem seems to be heat related. Motor acts like the timing advance (if this motor has this) is malfuctioning. What's the fix for this situation?

Re: 1984 Honda 7.5 HP Will not throttle up

The timing mechanism is located under the rear pulley, remove the belt and pull the pulley off sometimes they will pop off, if not use a puller. Turn the pulley over it is in there, do not worry if it only has one spring as they all do. To reset the timing of the engine line up the dot on the rear pulley to the dot on the case, and under the recoil line up the "T" to the mark on the case. Good Luck
