I am unlucky enough to need to replace the prop shaft.

Does the entire lower unit need to come off or can it be done from the front of the prop area (where the 2 bolts are)?

Any tips/tricks would be so great.... diagrams/pictures would help also...

Thanks in advance for ANY advise.

Rob.

Re: Nissan 18, 2006, prop shaft replacement

I take it you have a bent shaft. You do not need to drop the LU, though, after 3 years of service, it might be a good time to do that and change the impeller. See the exploded diagrams in the parts catalog on Elvin's website at http://www.internetoutboards.com/PartsCatalogMenu.htm

Be careful not to goof up the clutch push rod and associated bits. If the shaft is bent, you may also want to consider changing the prop shaft seal, while you have the prop shaft housing out of the LU.
