Honda 9.9 model BF99A Long Shaft

I am wanting to take this motor off a pontoon boat to use on my 14 ft alum. V bottom with a 15 in. transom. Can this 20 in. shaft be shorten to a 15 in short on this model ?

Yes, and No. If your motor has a spacer you can do it but you need to buy water tubes, drivetrain, and shifter. I know for my johnson all those parts cost me $300. You have to pull the powerhead to access the tubes too.
Its better to just keep it a longshaft, buy a new motor, or trade it for a short shaft. I used a 25" shaft on my 12' rowboat and was able to plane.
