Hi All,
I have a 1983 Honda 10HP (BP100). It has the DC outlet for charging batteries, running lights etc. The owners manual says it supplies a 12V-60W direct current. I would like to hook it to a small/light weight 12V battery to keep it charged to run my navigation lights.

I have a Sears Die Hard battery from my ATV. It is a model 14A-A2. I believe this is a 12V battery but I'm not sure how the wattage as stated above comes into play. Does anyone know if I can connect the Honda DC outlet to this battery without blowing anything up (myself or the battery) so that I can keep it charged to run my nav. lights. I want to keep the battery as small as possible from a weight stand point. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Should work ok, my only other thought is, is the charge rate regulated, if not it might over charge the battery. Keep you eyes on the acid level to make sure you don't cook it dry.

The battery will heat up before it over charges, so just check for heat to be sure.
BTW, 60watts at 12 volts is only 5 amps.
