I have a new to me boat:) 18ft hewescraft river runner. I can't wait to take it the the Columbia. Anyway, enough bragging. It has a Nissan 90 hp NS90A 3B7-1 11397 - I was told it is a 1990. Is that right? Is the 1992 NS90A the same as the 1990? I can only find service manuals and parts listings for the 1992 and later. thanks

For model year information you need to call 972-323-6003. For the most part, a 90 A is A 90 A, however there are some part number differences. Service information is the same though. You might want to get the factory manual over a aftermarket doorstop manual.

You can get a free download of the parts catalog at TG's very good website at
http://www.internetoutboards.com/PartsCatalogMenu.htm

I would highly recommend a Factory service manual, available from any Tohatsu/Nissan dealer as opposed to an aftermarket "covers a zillion models" manual. The aftermarket books are OK as a primer, especially if you're not versed in OB service, but really are very weak in the technical areas for a specific motor.

My motor is a Nissan NS90A, 3B7-1-15212. Nissan says it's a '92, if that means anything.

In general, a Nissan/Tohatsu manufacturing year is not very significant, as some models were made for several years. The important identification is the precise model, in your case NS90A. For example, an M5B (Tohatsu) or NS5B (Nissan) could be built from 1999-2004. In some cases there are running changes of minor significance, which are listed in the parts catalog by serial number range.

I was noting that the serial numbers were relatively close.
