Was wondering what filter N? 1 is, is it a check type fuel filter or it's a standard one ? Seems to work just in one way when blown. The Service Part Manual does't mention a thing about this second filter, there is code only for the N? 2 filter. The engine is currently a Mariner 2 strokes, 2004 dual tank internal & external version, maybe a special filter for this model/brand engine compared to Tohatsu same model. Any precise tech info would be helpful.

Re: Tohatsu 5 HP Fuel Filter Issue

# 1 is not a factory filter....This looks like someone converted an integral tank model to dual fuel feed and didn't understand where to tap into the existing fuel line. Result: Unnecessay 2nd filter and waste of money.

Hola TG

I have this engine from box new, it must be factory assembled for Mariner 2004, 2 strokes 5 HP engine. The Toh spare parts sheet shows only the upper filter (2), so in case the filter N? 1 fails, no spare part available, would it be advisable to bypass this filter using a metal connector to join both hose sides ?

I would as there is no reason to have the 2nd filter anyway. Every connection is a potential leak point. Do away with as many connections as possible.

Also, what's your serial number?
