I need to replace my shift Cable on my 1999 Honda 90 4 stroke. I have removed the linkage from cable underneath the engine cover. i can not figure out how to "push" or "pull" the cable thru where it passes into the engine compartment. It seems maybe there is something holding in place, but its a very small space.

Any tips??

Thanks!

Re: Replacing Shift Cable on Honda 90

Remove the 2 10mm bolts that secure the plate that is part of the lower engine cowling (Port side of the motor (left looking from the stern(back)), where the cables run through). The cables should be held in place by the slots on the ends, the cables are locked in place so that the core of the cables can slide in the cable housing and make the throttle and shift work.
