Tohatsu 8hp fuel line diameter?

I was wondering if anyone new the right diameter fuel line for a Tohatsu 8hp 2stroke outboard. I just bought a boat with this engine(guessing mid 90's), and it currently has 5/16 line up almost to the engine, where it goes into a fuel shutoff valve, then becomes 3/8 and goes into the engine connector. When looking online at parts, it appears that the engine connector has a 3/8 inch barb, and the tank connector is 5/16, so I am a little confused as to what the setup should be.

The fuel line size varies depending on where it is in the fuel system...But, I wouldn't lose any sleep over any size fuel line as long as it is at least 1/4. It's just not important.
