I have a 2004 25hp 2 stroke short shaft and I was wondering if it is possible to convert it to a long shaft engine. If so, what parts will I need. Thanks

If you are willing to spend $700.00 I will give you the list.

Thank you Elvin.

I am considering my options at the moment and have a little bit of time to decide. At least now I know it can be done and it is reasonable. Am I correct in saying that this will lower the cavitation plate 5 inches?

Yes. It also requires the complete the replacement of the motor leg, so that means powerhead removal as well as lowerunit removal.

I think you would be far ahead if you just sold your motor and put that money plus the $700 into buying a longshaft motor. Or look around for someone that might be willing to make a trade.

(In addition to the $700 - if you had to pay a boat mechanic to do it for you I'd say you'd be looking at least in the 4-6 hour range @$50-$75/hr. for all the work necessary.)

Just my 2 cents.
