Hi,
I managed to steer right into shallow waters yesterday..(i know stupid:( ) broke my propeller and bent the prop shaft. My Swedish Tohatsu repairs shop will charge me way too much (around 2000 USD) so I figured I just change the propeller shaft my self.
The problem is, I really cant dismantle the shaft..
Anyone out there who knows how to dismantle the shaft properly?

I've removed the propeller. Under the propeller there is a outer case with two bolts/nuts which I've removed. The problem is I cannot remove the outer case that surrounds the propeller shaft. I've pulled it very hard and it moved just a slightly millimeter. Is this the right way to dismantle the propeller shaft?
or do I have to remove some parts located around the impeller as well?

The engine is a Tohatsu 40D Power trim, electric starter, Made in 2002.

thanks
regards Rickard

There should be an indentation where the PSH meets the LUH. Take a punch or screwdriver an gently tap it PSH away from the LUH.

:) thanks for the reply, I've managed to dismantle the propeller shaft. I was on the right path, the shaft housing was pretty stuck. But as you said, gently banging on it with a soft hammer made my day!

Now.. just waiting for the repair shop to straighten it and I'm back on track, a'hoy!

btw.. do your company ship parts to sweden?
