wondering if anybody has any info on where to unhook my shift linkage for impeller replacement and if there are any other bolts besides the four main bolts and the one under the zinc ?

Re: 45 hp honda impeller replacement

thanks, but I found it! there is a stainless rod that is part of the shift linkage located about half way up the lower unit on the transom side that has a jam nut and a threaded collar. just loosen the jam nut and unscrew the collar and it seperates the top half from the botton half.

That works great w/the jam nut if someone at the factory did not cross thread it as they did on mine. Otherwise, disconnect under the carb but taking out the carter pin and the link (pin) connector.

Well I know this is probably a dumb question, but now that I have the impeller replacement finished I am having a heck of a time filling the lower unit back up with lube. Does anybody have any tricks for this?
