2001 Honda BF9.9A rough start

1st thing in the morning, engine starts up on 1st turn of key and auto-chokes fine and settles down to low idle.

In the past, after motor idles down on its own, I was always able to put in gear and go.

Now lately, start up is normal, but when motor is put in gear it stalls. Have to start up again, and when I put it in gear I have to really gun it to get it going. But once I do this, it never happens again throughout the day ??????

Any suggestions ? Thanks !!

Drain the fuel bowl on the carb, there is a drain screw on the side. While it is open, pump the primer bulb a few times to flush out the bowl w/fresh fuel.
Put a can of SeaFoam in the fuel tank.
