Tohatsu M50D water pump question

Lately the water seems to take several minutes to get to the pee hole on my Tohatsu M50D. It seems to discharge as usual once it gets there. Do'es this sound like it's time to change the water pump kit, or could it just be plugged.

Thanks for any advice, it's sure been helpful in the past!

I'm wondering if I can pull the lower unit while tied to the dock. It's on a pontoon. Would I have enough angle to pull it off all the way without submerging the gearbox.
It sounds easier then using a dingy under the lift.

It's not unusual to have a slightly delayed flow on a good pump, but if you haven't replaced itn the last few hundred hours....Doing a WP job while in the water is possible, but usually winds up as a huge pain. I wouldn't do it unless I had no other choice.
