2002 honda 8hp 4stroke - throttle friction dial

Hi all, <br /><br />I have a problem with the throttle friction dial on my 2002 Honda 4 stroke 8HP outboard. It runs fine but when you release the throttle, it starts to slow down. The twist grip throttle control will not hold its position when released. Since I am sailing - I would like to set it and steer with the tiller. Any thoughts on how to fix this would be appreciated. <br /><br />Thanks for your help - Karen

service bulletin # OB032 addressed that issue on BF8's serial #'s BAAJ 1000001 thru BAAJ 1200023...your unit may be eligible for a "goodwill" claim...go see your local dealer

being a dealer helps...there really isn't a place online to read it...your local dealer should have a copy
