Tohatsu 3.5 HP M35A how to tell year ???

All I have is serial number 23631, how do you figure out the year on these, thanks.

There is no record of a M3.5A serial number 23631.

Probably because when the current Tohatsu company took over from the previous distributor they didn't get all the records from the old company. If they don't have a record of it, it would mean it's somewhere between the mid-80's (when Tohatsu began selling in the US) and 1995/1996 (when the current distributor took over all distribution of Tohatsu in the US). If it helps, Tohatsu switched to a gray color around 1992/1993 (I believe they were light blue prior to that).

I confirmed serial 23631<br />Cover is blue with red & white lettering.<br />I assume its in the 80's, is there a way to nail it down?<br />How do I buy parts?

Parts are sold by model number. M3.5A is all you need.
