Mounting Honda 20 hp

Hello,<br /> I have mounted a Honda 20 hp with console controls. The cavitation plate is one and one-half inches below the keelson on this 16 foot flat bottomed skiff. Will it work out ok?<br /><br />Steve

Steve,<br />It will work, but just not as efficient as it could be.<br />Ideally, you'd want the plate even with, or slightly higher than the bottom of the boat. (I say higher because with a 20hp on a 16 ft boat, you'll never get enough speed to have the water off of the back of the hull stay at that level until after it passes the engine)<br /> In you're case, you're just running the engine a little deeper in the water thats all. Not a big thing, you'll hardly notice the difference. It will not hurt the engine in any way.<br /><br />Nav
