I have an older Honda BF75 (serial# BF75L 170662...around 1985) It idles like a champ, but seems to have no power when the throttle is wide open. Seems to operate at about 1/4 throttle speed when in forward gear with throttle wide open. When in neutral, rpms seem like they can be taken close to red-line, but no power when in forward gear. The carb was cleaned and tuned and still no improvement. I'm moving on to the ignition system and will be checking the cdi unit to factory specs. Can anyone give me a hint on possible problems? the cdi unit seems to be a bit pricey to replace when buying from the dealer. Should I be checking other spots that might be the source of the problem? Any help would be swell.

Thanks

Do a compression check - cheap and fast before you sink any more money in parts.

Oh, also check to see if the prop has spun on the hub.
