I have a 1985 BF-100. Coming back from off-shore sailing the other day, swells were quartering from the stern. All of a sudden, the engine cut off. It cranked again on the first pull, but when I put it in gear it seems to only throttle about halfway up, even with the throttle all the way. In neutral it'll rev right up, but in gear it won't. With the motor off, I tilted the motor out of the water and the prop spins easily. What could this be?

Check the gas line and make sure your vent is open or the gas line is kinked. You may also have a bad plug, change both of them if you haven't recently. Make sure you gap them. I would suggest you get the NGK plugs. In the FAQ's of this Forum is a recipe for decarbing your motor, you might wanna try it. Also add some Sea Foam to you gas tank.

lee
